Born into a family of porcelain merchants, Eugène Claude began his career as a porcelain painter. He was a member of the Société des Artistes. He exhibited at the Paris Salon at the age of twenty in 1861.

Eugène Claude won a second-class medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1895 and an honorable mention at the Universal Exhibitions in Paris in 1889 and 1900.[2] A prolific artist, he submitted some sixty paintings to the Salon over thirty years.[3]

He primarily painted portraits and still lifes of flowers, fruit, and animals.
Very good overall condition.
