Situated between landscape and abstraction, the composition unfolds through overlapping fields of muted blue, sage green, ochre, ivory and earth tones, punctuated by vivid accents of burnt orange and red.
Rather than depicting a specific place, Sophie Dumont constructs an imagined territory through layers of paint, scraped surfaces and irregular lines. The lower part of the composition carries a dense, almost geological presence, while the pale upper field introduces space and light. The eye gradually moves through these fragmented territories toward an open horizon.
The visible traces of the painting process are deliberately preserved, giving the surface its tactile character and emphasizing the tension between structure and spontaneity.
Original and unique artwork.
