The designer duo Charles and Ray Eames were key figures in the development of American post-war design. Eames' guiding principle was to create high-quality and aesthetically sophisticated designs. The use of innovative materials such as die-cast aluminum and fiberglass, while considering ergonomic principles, was revolutionary at the time. Their extensive body of work has influenced generations of architects and designers.
The ES 102 model is a design from 1967. The brilliantly designed chair was so complex and therefore expensive to produce that production was discontinued after only five years. Consequently, the few surviving examples are rare and highly sought after today.
Charles Eames valued the model so much that he used the ES102 at his personal desk at home until his death. This piece has an attribution mark,
