Jackson, featuring a profusion of warm ochre-orange daisies dramatically arranged against a deep charcoal-black ground.

The composition has a strikingly modern quality: dozens of individually rendered blossoms emerge from a loosely painted rounded vase, with two fallen flowers resting alongside. The restrained palette of black, burnt orange, brown and gray gives the work an especially strong presence and makes it beautifully suited to Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist, organic modern and eclectic interiors.

Executed on stretched canvas and presented in its vintage two-tone frame, with a warm wood inner molding surrounded by a wide black outer frame. The contrast between the artwork and frame gives the piece an almost architectural quality.

The reverse retains a handwritten period label identifying the work as “Daisies of Wood / by Mary E. Jackson” together with an original $195.00 notation. Additional handwritten markings appear on the stretcher.
