The tree section was cut and preserved around the original nesting cavity, transforming the natural form into an unusual sculptural wall hanging. The bird nest remains visible deep within the opening, while a small branch projects outward below like a natural perch.

The untouched bark, knots, fissures and irregular contours create an incredibly textural surface with an almost mask-like presence. A wonderfully unusual piece of American folk art with strong connections to Mid-Century Modern, Arts & Crafts, Organic Modern and rustic design.
