Exceptional pair of 19th-century Thai grain baskets, hand woven from natural rattan with substantial red lacquered rims and bases.
Each basket features a beautifully tapered form with remarkably tight, intricate weaving and deep oxblood-red lacquer. Years of use have created rich variations in color and surface, giving the pair an especially attractive timeworn patina.
Originally utilitarian objects, their generous scale and sculptural silhouettes translate beautifully into modern interiors. Particularly striking displayed as decorative vessels or repurposed as planters with removable pots placed inside to protect the original basketry.
