A handsome collection of 11 vintage Funk & Wagnalls Standard Reference Encyclopedia volumes, published in 1959, featuring rich deep green bindings with black title panels and extensive gilt detailing.
Each volume is decorated with repeating gilt sunburst and globe motifs along the spine, creating an especially striking and cohesive appearance when displayed together. The front boards carry the coordinating gilt-and-black Funk & Wagnalls Standard Reference Encyclopedia emblem.
Published by Wilfred Funk, Inc., this 1959 edition combines classic midcentury reference publishing with an unusually decorative binding. The interiors include period illustrations, photographs and color plates covering a broad range of subjects.
This group is especially appealing as a decorative library collection for built-in shelving, a study, office, living room or traditional library. The saturated green and aged gold tones work particularly well in English Traditional, Grandmillennial and collected interiors.
Set includes 11 volumes: Volumes 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Please note that this is a decorative partial collection rather than a complete sequential encyclopedia set; Volume 1 is not present and there are two Volume 5 books.
Approximate dimensions:
Each book: 8.5"H x 5.5"W
All 11 displayed side by side: approximately 14"W
Decorative bookends shown in some photographs are for display purposes only and are not included.
