One tree. One top. One of one.
This is a true single-slab live edge table — one continuous cross-section of a single Saman tree, commonly called monkeypod, cut natural edge to natural edge. It is not narrow boards glued into a panel with a live edge applied to the outside, which is what most tables sold under this description actually are.
Nine feet long. Two and a half inches thick. Thirty-five to forty-four inches across, because a slab is wider where the tree was wider — the width breathes down the length rather than running dead straight, and that is the entire reason to own one. Forty-four inches at its broadest: a tree has to reach a certain age and girth before it can give up a top like this.
The grain runs golden through chocolate with dark mineral streaking where the heartwood ran. Knots, voids and the irregular line of the bark edge are the record of how the tree grew, not defects to be sanded away.
Seats ten. It works as a conference table for a smaller boardroom as readily as a very serious dining table.
Black steel base included; the base design paired with this slab is confirmed with you before purchase. Professionally lacquered top; sheen is fixed per piece and confirmed before you commit.
Imported directly from Ecuador by the seller and held in a warehouse outside Chicago. Legally imported Saman from Ecuador. For interior use.
Inspection welcome by appointment, seven days a week, if you are within reach of Chicago.
