Archaic’s made-to-order farmhouse furnishings are handcrafted in South Carolina using reclaimed vintage lumber. Built in a primitive, old-world style, each piece is assembled using traditional joinery.

Built from solid reclaimed barnwood of varying species, each Archaic piece carries the weight of time in its grain. We source aged lumber rich with character—heart pine, southern pine, oak, walnut, cypress, elm, and others—each selected for tone, strength, and history.

Every board tells its own story: nail holes, saw marks, burn traces, and natural wear earned over decades. These elements are not always removed—they are often preserved. Surfaces are refined just enough for daily use, while maintaining the integrity of the wood’s past.

Each piece is built by hand using old-world joinery—mortise and tenon, wooden pins—without visible modern hardware. The result is construction that feels grounded, honest, and built to outlast that which surrounds it.

The finish is intentionally restrained—a soft matte that avoids gloss or artificial sheen. What you see and feel is real wood, not a manufactured imitation. Archaic was founded as a direct response to the mass-produced “wood” furniture found in big box stores—where character is erased and replaced with uniformity. This is the opposite of that.
