The collection retains its original bilingual “Butterfly Specimens – Made in Taiwan” label and individual identification labels beneath the specimens. The assortment includes numerous butterflies and swallowtails in muted ivory, ochre, brown, black, yellow and orange tones, creating a striking natural-history display.

Taiwan became internationally known for its butterfly trade and specimen production during the mid-20th century, and comparable examples are documented from the 1960s and 1970s. This unusually large example has wonderful scale for use as wall-mounted natural-history art in a library, study, living room or layered traditional interior.

The specimen panel measures approximately 34 inches wide × 22 inches high × .3 inches deep.

Vintage condition with age-related wear, including areas of discoloration/clouding to the pale blue ground and expected aging to some specimens and labels. Please review photographs closely. The reverse retains its original fabric-wrapped construction over a wood backing. No restoration has been undertaken.
