This is a magnificent and monumental vintage Chinese Cloisonné (Jingtai Lan) sculpture of a Leaping Carp (Fish). The fish is depicted in a dynamic, jumping pose, balancing on a heavily cast bronze base sculpted with rolling waves, lotus leaves, and a smaller fish.
The main fish is brilliantly decorated in a vibrant red and yellow scalloped scale pattern, accented with green floral vines and a floral motif on its side. It is holding a large, blue enamel sphere (representing a pearl) above its mouth. The fins, tail, and the intricate base are left as exposed bronze, showcasing a heavy, dark patina.
