Constructed in solid pine, the table features a broad plank top with beautifully pronounced grain, knots and old fastener marks, all brought out by a warm honey-toned finish. The top has softly eased corners and edges and retains the irregularities and subtle movement characteristic of old plank construction.

A substantial plain apron is supported by four square tapered legs, with visible pegged joinery adding to the table's honest vernacular character. Centered along one long side is a single shallow utility drawer fitted with a simple turned wooden knob. The straightforward construction and restrained proportions are characteristic of country farmhouse furniture made for everyday use rather than formal interiors.

The table has been refinished at some point in its history, giving the pine a rich amber color while preserving the natural grain, knots, old fastener locations and other evidence of age. Its clean, uncomplicated form works equally well in traditional farmhouse interiors and more contemporary rustic, primitive, wabi-sabi or country settings.

Generously scaled and highly functional, it would make an excellent kitchen or dining table, work table, library table or oversized writing table.
