An exceptional mid-century museum-quality reduction of Benvenuto Cellini’s Mannerist Renaissance masterpiece, Perseus with the Head of Medusa (originally sculpted 1545–1554). Meticulously crafted in Italy by the celebrated studio of Amilcare Santini (1910–1975), this striking vintage piece was imported to the United States via fine art distributor Eleganza Ltd. of Seattle.
The sculpture brilliantly replicates the dramatic composition of the monumental bronze original located in Florence's Piazza della Signoria. It captures the Greek hero standing triumphantly atop the body of the slain Medusa, holding her severed head aloft in one hand while his other clasps a sword.
Expertly cast from heavy, high-density reconstituted alabaster and carrara marble powder composite, the statue possesses a cool, tactile weight and a beautiful matte patina with classic warm cream undertones. It stands elegantly on an integrated multi-stepped base.Features the incised "A. Santini" signature on the rear lower drapery, alongside its original silver foil importer stickers on the underside of the base, preserving its genuine mid-century heritage. A commanding focal point for any traditional, neoclassical, or eclectic interior.
