An exceptional mid-century museum-quality reduction of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s Baroque masterpiece, David (originally sculpted 1623–1624). This substantial, impressive reproduction was meticulously crafted in Italy by the celebrated studio of Amilcare Santini (1910–1975) and imported to the United States via the fine art distributor, Eleganza Ltd. of Seattle.
The sculpture beautifully captures the dramatic, dynamic tension of Bernini’s dynamic design, portraying David at the apex of movement as he prepares to hurl the stone at Goliath. Cast in heavy, high-density reconstituted alabaster/marble composite stone, the piece possesses the cool, heavy tactile presence of carved stone, finished with a smooth matte patina and warm cream undertones. It stands elegantly on an integrated multi-stepped base detailed with a classic Greek key frieze motif.
Features the incised "A. Santini" signature on the rear lower base alongside its original silver foil importer labels confirming its provenance and genuine Italian heritage. A striking centerpiece statement for modern, neo-classical, or eclectic interiors.
