An authentic late 19th-century Victorian quadruple silver-plated teapot manufactured by the renowned Meriden Britannia Company (Meriden, CT, USA). Stamped underneath with the historic Meriden scales maker's mark and pattern number 868, this charming piece features a hand-etched floral motif across the central body displaying open roses and detailed foliage. The lower body features beautiful vertical gadrooning, complemented by a fluted dome lid, matching finial, and a sturdy built-in hinged top mechanism.The piece exhibits a heavy, dramatic naturally aged dark tarnish (patina) that accentuates its intricate antique engravings. This creates a moody, rustic, or gothic farmhouse look highly sought after for decorative shelf styling and Victorian vignettes. The interior remains structurally sound with its original built-in spout strainer grate intact.
