The Design Strategy & Details:The centerpiece of this suite is an expansive writing desk boasting an elegant, elongated serpentine top with distinctive, softly radiused demi-lune ends and a tiered thumb-molded edge. Elevated by slender, flowing cabriole legs terminating in classic pad feet, the desk features a handsome two-drawer configuration accented by antiqued brass bail pulls. The lower face is highlighted by an exceptionally delicate twisted rope-carved molding and anchored by a dramatic, multi-tiered scalloped lower apron. The rich, variegated graining of the deeply burnished walnut finish provides an incredible, historic patina.
In perfect dialogue with the table’s fluid lines, the two substantial armchairs bring plush, luxurious comfort to the suite. Crafted from warm-toned fruitwood, the frames feature gently curved padded backrests and padded armrests showcasing subtle, hand-carved floral sprigs along the crest rails and aprons. The seats are dressed in a stately, emerald green jacquard-woven fabric. Featuring an incredibly subtle, tonal needlepoint texture that beautifully catches the light, this rich textile brings a soft, scholarly depth to the dark wood ensemble, evoking the classic, tactile warmth of a historic country house study.

Additionally, there is light edge wear and minor finish rubbing running along the perimeter of the thumb-molded trim consistent with history and use. Rather than detracting from the suite, this authentic wear beautifully enhances its antiqued charm. The two armchairs remain robust with clean, well-preserved green jacquard upholstery. less
