An exceptional vintage Marcel modular sofa designed by Kazuhide Takahama, one of the most distinctive modular seating designs of the 1960s. Originally developed for Gavina in 1965, the Marcel collection later became part of the Knoll portfolio following Knoll's acquisition of Gavina in 1968.
The Marcel collection is characterized by its low-profile geometric form and exposed aluminum brackets, creating a beautifully minimal architectural silhouette.
This example consists of four individual modular sections, allowing the sofa to be displayed as one long 127-inch sectional or separated and configured to suit the space.
The sofa has been professionally reupholstered in a camel-colored wool, cotton, and nylon blend, giving the iconic 1960s design a warm, sophisticated appearance while retaining its original form and aluminum details.
The piece retains its Knoll label/signature underneath.
