The form tapers upward to a softly pinched crown, with light pooling and shifting across the surface from every angle — a study in pure sculptural restraint with no ornament, nothing extraneous. Signed on base.

Livio Seguso is one of the defining figures of postwar Italian studio glass, working under the Seguso Arte Vetro name. Known for bringing a sculptor's sensibility to the furnace, his thick, meditative forms blur the line between functional object and fine art. Signed in the glass on the underside, as is typical of authenticated Seguso studio work.

Substantial in hand — over six pounds at 8½ inches tall — with genuine physical presence on a shelf, mantle, gallery or collector's table.

Curated from the private collection of art pieces from artist Eve Paige Spencer, whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College, California, and her husband, writer and art collector Donner Spencer.
