Set of four "Quinta" chairs, designed by Mario Botta for Alias in the 1980s.
Designed by renowned Ticino architect Mario Botta in the 1980s for Alias, the "Quinta" chairs represent a remarkable synthesis of geometric rigor, functionality, and postmodern aesthetics. This icon of industrial design transcends its simple function as a seat to become a true miniature architectural sculpture.
The frame is made of black-painted tubular steel, characterized by taut lines and sharp angles that define its unmistakable silhouette.
Crafted from perforated and folded sheet metal, they offer a sense of visual lightness while ensuring high strength and structural solidity.
The shape of the backrest and armrests recalls the typical structural elements of Botta's architecture, with interplays of solids and voids that capture and filter light.
The use of perforated mesh is not just a stylistic choice, but a visual device that allows light to pass through the chair, casting evocative geometric shadows on the floor and surrounding walls. This feature makes the set of 4 chairs extremely versatile:
They fit perfectly into industrial-style environments, with exposed brick walls, resin floors, or brushed concrete.
The contrast with a solid wood table enhances their material character, while the combination with a glass table enhances their transparency and formal simplicity.
Despite their bold presence, the slender structure and transparency of the perforated sheet metal prevent them from weighing down the room's visual space.
The Quinta chair set is not just a furnishing accessory, but a piece of international design history capable of lending a strong, cultured, and timeless identity to any living or dining area.
Excellent condition.
They measure 95x45x50 cm each.
