A highly rare gino sarfatti 2129 ceiling lamp designed by gino sarfatti and manufactured by arteluce in italy in 1969. This super rare ceiling lamp stands among the most unusual and technically refined pieces in sarfatti’s oeuvre, possibly even from the whole arteluce oeuvre. Model 2129 demonstrates his continuous fascination with movement and balance, translating functional mechanics into elegant visual poetry. Unlike conventional ceiling lamps, this design rotates horizontally and is also vertically adjustable through a precisely calibrated counterweight system that balances the shade. It does not require a fixed electrical connection to the ceiling, instead, it features a plug-in cable, allowing flexibility and ease of installation. The large transparent acrylic glass arc elegantly supports the internal wiring, maintaining visibility of the cord as a subtle aesthetic detail. The round ceiling plate, equipped with a smooth turning mechanism and two signature arteluce screws, anchors the lamp’s complex structure with understated sophistication. The shade itself is composed of off-white lacquered aluminum with a contrasting brown outer band finished in the distinctive wrinkle paint that became a hallmark of both sarfatti and arteluce. The matching counterweight echoes this finish, creating a cohesive and balanced visual composition. A rare and sculptural piece that embodies both technical ingenuity and visual grace, the 2129 ceiling lamp exemplifies sarfatti’s ability to combine industrial precision with poetic form. Produced in very limited numbers during the first arteluce series, this example remains in excellent, fully original condition, with only a small mark at the end of the tube visible in the photographs.
