Born in Caen in 1942, Gérard Bouvier developed a personal universe entirely focused on repurposed silver-plated metal from the 1960s onward. His principle: to assemble and weld forks, spoons, and silverware pieces to give them a second life in the form of expressive and stylized animals—a poetic approach to recycling, long before the term became fashionable.

This toucan perfectly illustrates his method: the bird's silhouette emerges from the material with remarkable economy of means. The polished metalwork subtly captures the light from different angles, highlighting the graphic character of the silhouette and its acoustic presence.
