Purchased new in 2008, … Read more Beautiful set of eight mahogany Chippendale-style dining chairs consisting of six side chairs and two armchairs.
Purchased new in 2008, these high-quality chairs feature distinctive pierced back splats patterned after original 18th-century chairs by Williamsburg, Virginia cabinetmaker Anthony Hay.
The chairs have a rich Heirloom Mahogany finish, pierced splat backs, shaped crest rails, straight legs and elegant carved details. The two armchairs have gracefully shaped arms with carved terminals.
The seats are upholstered in Fabricut “Coquille Multi on Gold,” which is a traditional woven floral in an ivory/cream ground, with muted sage/blue-green foliage, antique gold/taupe detailing, and small flowers in cranberry, dusty rose and soft coral. The woven construction gives the pattern more depth than a printed floral.
The set was originally part of a custom order of sixteen chairs. Original purchase documentation and a period model sheet are available and will be included with the chairs.

Very good pre-owned condition with normal minor wear consistent with age and residential use. Frames are sturdy and the mahogany presents beautifully.
An elegant, unusually well-documented set suitable for a traditional, Colonial, Georgian or transitional dining room.
