An extraordinary architectural antique, this nearly 16-foot-long general store counter is believed to be more than 100 years old and offers the kind of scale, craftsmanship and character that is increasingly difficult to find.

Measuring approximately 15’10” long (190”) and 29–30” deep, the counter features substantial traditional mortise-and-tenon construction, beautifully paneled sides and ends, architectural molding, and an exceptionally long solid-wood work surface.

The counter underwent a thoughtful restoration by a skilled carpenter while intentionally preserving its age and character. The full-length wood boards forming the top were carefully removed, sanded and refinished, then precisely reinstalled to create a smooth, seamless and highly usable surface. The painted base was also carefully sanded and refreshed, retaining a beautifully timeworn, distressed finish with the variations, wear and patina appropriate to a piece of this age.

Rather than being restored to look new, the goal was to preserve what makes this counter remarkable: its history, craftsmanship and authentic presence.

Its exceptional length and substantial construction make it equally compelling as an antique store or mercantile counter, restaurant or cocktail bar, boutique hotel reception desk, coffee shop counter, winery or distillery tasting bar, retail display counter, wedding or event venue bar, or dramatic residential kitchen island.

This is a true statement piece with tremendous architectural presence. At nearly 16 feet long, it can anchor a large commercial or hospitality space while bringing warmth and history that would be difficult to reproduce with newly built cabinetry.

Condition: Antique with intentional age, wear, distressing and patina throughout. The counter has been thoughtfully restored for continued use while maintaining its historic character.
