item :
an exquisite majolica ashtray, 15 cm in diameter and 5 cm high, entirely crafted and decorated freehand between the 1930s and 1940s. The piece bears, under the base, the brush-marked "f.a.m.a. Ascoli p." (fabbrica artistica maioliche ascolane) mark, accompanied by the workshop number "4" below, identifying the decorator or the atelier's internal design. The ashtray's central decoration expresses a rigorous geometric design influenced by art deco and futurism, centered on a radial rosette composition of twelve alternating petals, interrupted on the rounded edge by three symmetrical functional recesses. The pictorial decoration was created using the complex and refined technique of wax reserve on a plum and eggplant-colored high-fired glaze, allowing the underlying light turquoise-green pigment to shine through. The work demonstrates the ascoli atelier's chemical excellence through a spectacular third firing with metallic lustres in a reducing atmosphere, a process that revealed a highly iridescent and iridescent silvery and gray-blue patina. Finally, the exterior of the piece is embellished with a motif of perfectly calibrated concentric and parallel horizontal bands. This piece has an attribution mark,
