Zoomorphic wooden sculpture, made in Orvieto (Umbria, Italy), around 1975, within the characteristic tradition of wood carving and artistic construction developed in this Italian town.

The figure features a unique construction using different layers or profiles of wood superimposed and assembled, a technique characteristic of animal sculptures produced in Orvieto during this period and closely related to the style developed by Gualverio Michelangeli (1929–1986) and later present in the work of Fausto Sangiovanni.

This type of animal—lions, dogs, squirrels, snails, cats, birds, and other figures—appears documented in different variations and sizes, with some examples attributed to Gualverio Michelangeli and others identified by the Sangiovanni mark, Orvieto.
