its surface is crisscrossed by a myriad of small, irregular shapes, juxtaposed like brushstrokes of color. The palette combines light blue, navy, pink, aqua green, sage green, ivory, and beige, interspersed with subtle dark lines that define the design.
the effect recalls pointillism and abstract painting: there is no central motif, but a continuous, vibrant composition that invites the gaze to lose itself in the multitude of chromatic fragments.

linde burkhardt (born 1937) is a german artist and designer whose research spans art, design, architecture, and public space. After initially training at the kunstgewerbeschule in zurich, she studied painting in berlin and continued her education in hamburg, where she studied with the painter almir mavignier.
her work is distinguished by a particular openness to experimentation.
a significant moment in her research was the founding, in 1968, of the urbanes design group, together with the architect françois burkhardt. The group explores the relationship between art, architecture, and everyday life, designing, among other things, plazas, playgrounds, mobile elements, and integrated public space projects.
from the 1980s and 1990s, their work increasingly delved into the realm of product design. They designed carpets, ceramics, tiles, ceramic and steel objects, and other elements intended for production. They collaborated with major italian companies such as driade and alessi, transforming their artistic language into everyday objects. For driade, they created numerous rugs and a ceramic collection; for alessi, they experimented with the intersection of ceramic and metal.
a particularly interesting aspect of their work is the way they translate painting into design. Rugs, for example, are conceived not simply as decorative elements, but as true pictorial surfaces: color, lines, composition, and material become tools for transforming space.
