Elegant antique French Provincial wall mirror, crafted in France and dating to approximately 1890–1900. Made from warm-toned oak, this decorative mirror combines traditional French craftsmanship with beautifully aged original mirror glass.
The architectural oak frame features a graceful shaped pediment crowned by a finely carved shell and scroll motif, a characteristic decorative element associated with French Provincial and Louis XV Revival interiors. Vertical fluted details frame the large central mirror, while two carved brackets support a narrow display shelf.
Above the shelf is a distinctive oval beveled mirror, adding an elegant decorative accent and giving the piece a refined layered appearance.
Both antique mirror plates show authentic age-related foxing, oxidation and desilvering. Particularly visible on the larger lower mirror, this naturally developed patina gives the piece considerable character and creates the atmospheric appearance highly appreciated in original antique mirrors.
The oak frame retains its warm historic finish with attractive variations in tone, subtle marks and natural signs of use consistent with its age.
with its tall proportions and decorative architectural design, this mirror works beautifully in a French country house, Provincial interior, entrance hall, hallway, bedroom, dressing room, bathroom or above a console table. It also makes a striking contrast piece in contemporary or eclectic interiors.
