A striking pair of early 20th-century Bohemian ruby glass decanters in the Egermann style**, finely hand-engraved with elaborate foliate ornament, latticework and wildlife scenes.

The decoration follows the celebrated tradition of Bohemian engraved coloured glass associated with Friedrich Egermann, combining rich colour with finely worked decorative engraving. Each decanter features individual wildlife scenes, including deer and bird motifs**, set within lattice panels and surrounded by scrolling foliage and ornamental borders.

The tall tapered bodies rise to flared necks and retain their matching ground glass stoppers. The stoppers are themselves engraved with delicate scroll and dot decoration, creating a particularly attractive and cohesive pair. Both decanters have polished pontil bases.

The glass has a distinctive deep ruby to maroon colour, displaying subtle variations in tone and a warm, almost coppery appearance where the light passes through the glass. The colour is somewhat more subdued in person than in the photographs, which tend to accentuate its purple tones.

A decorative example of the enduring Egermann tradition in Bohemian glassmaking, with the combination of rich ruby colour, intricate hand engraving and traditional wildlife imagery giving the pair considerable presence.

Condition

Good vintage condition overall, with minor surface wear and small marks consistent with age and previous use. One decanter has a small old chip to the rim and some age-related wear to the side; please refer to the final photographs for detail. No major cracks noted. The stoppers fit well.
