Exceptional thonet vienna dining ensemble from 1987, comprising a round pedestal dining table and five matching armchairs, representing a later thonet vienna production of josef hoffmann’s iconic fledermaus design.
the five armchairs are distinguished by the characteristic geometric side elements and sweeping curved wooden frames associated with the fledermaus design vocabulary. Their sculptural construction, rounded armrests and elegant proportions give the ensemble a particularly distinctive viennese character.
the chairs and table are executed in richly stained reddish-brown wood, with the table featuring a substantial architectural pedestal base and bronze-finished metal detailing. The wooden components are in very good vintage condition, retaining their beautiful original finish with only minor traces of age and use.
the armchairs are upholstered in a refined geometric-patterned backhausen textile, adding a notable austrian textile-design element to the ensemble. Some areas of the upholstery show staining and signs of use, which are clearly visible in the photographs. Professional cleaning may be considered according to the buyer’s preference.
a matching tablecloth in the coordinated textile is included as a complimentary addition to the set.
the underside marking “thonet vienna 87” is present on the chair, supporting the 1987 production date.
a highly distinctive example of late 20th-century viennese furniture design, combining the historic fledermaus design lineage of josef hoffmann with thonet vienna production and austrian textile design.
