The distorted faces are reminiscent of the portraits of pablo picasso, a contemporary and clear influence of aluma masvidal. This piece evokes a journey, with the perspectival lines on the left of the composition hinting at the titular 'highway', and the overall translucency of the colour suggesting this is a view through a window. An impressive balance between movement and stillness, perfectly capturing the fleeting moment of strangers' lives we see whilst driving past their cars on a fast-moving road. Jordi aluma masvidal is a spanish postwar & contemporary artist who was born in 1924.
