Gottlieb "The Incredible Hulk" Pinball Machine, 1979, Restored
The Incredible Hulk is a solid-state pinball machine manufactured by Gottlieb in 1979. It is part of Gottlieb's historic catalog and remains a benchmark for pinball enthusiasts.
This pinball machine was born from the collaboration between Gottlieb and Columbia Pictures following the 1977 release of the first film of the same name.
Designed in the electromechanical era, The Incredible Hulk is prized by collectors for its mechanical operation and distinctive sound. The relays and coils that power it produce a very different playing experience from modern pinball machines—noisier and more tactile.
It has been restored with a mix of new and used parts to ensure its original enjoyment and reliability for decades to come:
- New CPU and sound boards by FliPPP! by Pascal Janin (board known for its reliability compared to the original)
- New backglass made in the Netherlands by Coos Hakvoort (recognized professional)
- Installation of a full Mylar overlay (protecting the playfield with a transparent vinyl);
- New glass;
- New bumpers;
- Cleaning of every part of the playfield;
- Polishing of the lockbar
- New Gottlieb sticker on the front door;
- New orange power cable.
This pinball machine is in free play mode and can be programmed for 3 or 5 ball games.
The cabinet has been completely cleaned and shows some signs of wear, but these do not detract from the machine's beauty or gameplay.
