Carved Wooden Chest with Twisted Columns – Renaissance Style
An important carved wooden chest of fine decorative quality, crafted in the Renaissance style.
The particularly elaborate front is punctuated by two twisted columns framing two large panels carved with radiating rosettes and geometric motifs.
The central section is adorned with a figure in the round, placed in a niche, resting on an architectural setting carved with scrolls and foliage.
The entire piece rests on a molded base ending in sturdy, flattened circular feet.
The hinged top lifts to reveal a large storage space.
The beautiful brown hue and patina of the wood particularly highlight the depth of the carvings.
A highly decorative chest, ideal for a period interior, a library, or as an accent piece.
