Art Nouveau is the term used to describe an artistic movement that took place between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its main aim was to create a new, freer, and more modern art, a break from the prevailing academicism of the time. To achieve this, it drew inspiration from nature, while also incorporating the innovations brought about by the Industrial Revolution, especially new materials and techniques (steel, glass, etc.). All of this is summarized in a statement that could be understood as the movement's motto: the awareness that "the future has already begun." It sought to integrate art into everyday life, breaking with historical styles. It is characterized by sinuous lines, forms inspired by nature such as flowers, stems, or insects, and an organic design that conveys fluidity and elegance. Its development was international, with variations such as German Jugendstil or Catalan Modernism, although its origins lie in Belgium.
