Peter Ronald 'The Tout' Buchanan (British, 1881-1964)
For much of the first half of the 20th Century, “The Tout” drew caricatures, mainly of horse racing society, that were published principally in The Tatler and The Bystander weekly magazines.
The person behind the pseudonym was Peter Ronald Griffiths-Buchanan.
Racehorse owner W Barnett and Joe Marshall, jockey
Joe Marshall (1908–1973) was a flat racing jockey, who won the 1929 Derby on Trigo.
W. Barnett was a prominent British-era thoroughbred racehorse owner active during the early 1930s, known for racing horses like Harinero (1933) and Primero (1934) under his cherry, black sash, and yellow-and-white quartered cap silks, often associated in historic racing archives alongside jockey Joe Marshall. He is part of the broader Barnett family (connected to W & R Barnett Ltd.) with deep historical roots in horse breeding and racing.
