Woven with a fine wool pile and highlighted with silk accents, this piece originates from one of the premier workshops in the ancient city of Tabriz, located in Persia’s Azerbaijan Province. The geometric composition features a dynamic series of diamond patterns radiating outward in alternating red and ivory tones, all set against a richly detailed field. Framed by a deep burgundy border, the design is further enlivened with shades of lavender, blue, and brown. Revered for its sophistication and enduring appeal, the Tabriz Mahi pattern has been widely emulated, but authentic examples such as this—woven in Tabriz by master artisans.
