The tray features a beautifully restrained rectangular form with softly shaped corners, raised border detailing, and substantial integrated handles. Its clean, understated design reflects the refined Japanese aesthetic for which Shobido silverwork is known, allowing the quality of the material and craftsmanship to take center stage.

The underside bears both important Japanese hallmarks: the Shobido maker’s mark (尚美堂) and Jungin (純銀) silver mark. Jungin translates literally as “pure silver” and was traditionally used on high-grade Japanese silver objects.

Exceptionally substantial in hand, the tray weighs approximately 4 lb 5 oz (1,956 g). It measures approximately 22” L × 12.5” W × 0.75” H.

The surface retains signs of its history, including light scratches, surface marks and variations consistent with age and previous use. It has been hand polished while preserving its vintage character.
