These unusual low-back chairs have wonderful character, with wraparound curved crest rails, pierced center details and turned spindles creating a classic American tavern or pub-chair silhouette. The sculpted saddle-style seats and warm Rumford finish highlight the wood grain and substantial construction.

Original manufacturer’s labels remain present and identify the chairs as Tell City Chair Company Pattern 9045 in #49 Rumford finish, made in Tell City, Indiana. The original casters are marked Shepherd.

The set is in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including scattered surface marks, scratches and areas of finish wear. One chair has a visible previous repair to a split/crack in a back spindle/post where it meets the seat. The repair is shown clearly in the close-up photographs. The repair predates the current seller; its age and repair method are unknown.

The chairs retain a lovely, warm vintage appearance and present beautifully as a set. Please review all photographs, including the detailed photographs of the repaired area, as they form an important part of the condition description.
