Discovered in Paris and signed by the artist, this antique painting is oil on canvas depicting a Dutch waterfront setting … Read more Discovered in Paris and signed by the artist, this antique painting is oil on canvas depicting a Dutch waterfront setting at dusk within a village with the ships and sailboats in the background as a clear moon rises. On the lower left is a group of women standing and talking at the wharf which are just above the signature of the artist. While the building and the scene of women perhaps look to be Dutch, the canvas itself is stamped with a Parisian address on the backside with a stamp by the Belgian framer and gold gilding artist indicating the piece was framed and gilt in Brussels. Measures 19 5/8” x 14 1/8 with frame depth of 1 1/4”.
