This stoneware teapot, with its curved shape, was hand-thrown by ceramicist Hervé Rousseau in his Boisbelle workshop (Henrichemont, Cher), near the renowned pottery center of La Borne. His work is based on a swift, efficient throwing technique and high-quality, unwashed clay, all fired in his large kiln.

The teapot features a generously rounded body, a ringed neck, a domed lid with a knob handle, a looped handle, and a tapered spout. The beige-cream glaze, applied in irregular drips, reveals the raw stoneware in places, along with blue-gray and mauve reflections—characteristic traces of ash deposits and flame variations inherent to traditional wood-fired kilns. Each piece, unique, bears the marks of the flames and ash deposits in the kiln, making each one irreplaceable.

Artist: Hervé Rousseau, born in 1955, trained under Augusto Tozzola and then Jacky Coville in Biot. He settled in Boisbelle in 1981 with Josette Miquel, where in 1985-86 he built his large, three-chamber Japanese horizontal kiln (9 m³ noborigama). His pieces are included in the public collections of French museums (Arts Décoratifs, Sèvres, Cluny, etc.) and museums abroad (Germany, England, China). He is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (AIC).
