Striking 19th-century French gilded mirror, circa 1890, featuring an ornately hand-carved wood frame with an elegant oak leaf and acorn motif. The richly detailed frame is further accented with faux bois elements, a decorative carving technique designed to emulate the appearance of natural wood or tree forms.
The combination of intricate hand carving, gilded finish, and organic oak leaf and acorn ornament gives this antique mirror a distinctive French decorative character. Its substantial proportions and ornate frame make it an impressive statement piece for a formal living room, entryway, dining room, bedroom, or above a console.
