Distinctive early 20th-century American folk art mirror frame, dating to circa 1920s, featuring a highly dimensional handmade design constructed from numerous small, sharpened pieces of fruitwood.
The unusual layered construction creates a richly textured, “poked” appearance across the frame, giving this mirror its memorable character and sculptural quality. The handmade construction and inventive use of small pieces of wood are characteristic of the decorative tradition commonly associated with American tramp art.
A unique example of American folk art, this mirror makes an intriguing decorative accent and statement piece for an eclectic, rustic, traditional, or collected interior.
