Exceptional French Louis XVI-style occasional table with an ornate carved giltwood frame and striking natural green onyx top.
The beautifully sculpted frame features scrolling foliage, floral and shell-inspired ornament, graceful cabriole legs and an elaborate apron centered by a carved decorative motif. An unusual X-form stretcher joins the legs below, terminating in a central ornamental medallion.
The natural onyx slab is particularly impressive, with luminous cream, green, honey and amber coloration and dramatic organic veining.
A sophisticated accent for a French château-inspired interior, traditional living room, bedroom, entryway or curated collector’s space.
Attributed to the late 19th/early 20th-century European decorative tradition. Exact maker and date have not been established.
Vintage/antique condition with expected wear to the gilt finish and signs of age. Please see photographs.
