A truly rare find, this ""gallery/corridor or library"" size piece from the last quarter of the 1800s. This rug has a wonderful uncluttered open design that allows the intricate patterns and brilliant colors to truly shine. The central medallion, a classic Serapi motif, is rendered in a soft palette of light blue, pink, red, yellow, and green. This medallion is set against a vibrant turquoise field, creating a captivating and elegant focal point. A special feature of this rug is the use of very fine wool and organic vegetable dyes, which have created stunning abrash colors. The natural tonal variations in shades of pale blue, pink, green, and yellow imbue the rug with a sense of life and a continuously evolving story.
