Professionally appraised in 2021 at $8,000, this small walnut desk features a unique form, where the primary desk section sits atop a base with box stretchers and bun feet. The slant front opens to reveal a shaped interior with pigeon-holes and concave-front drawers. The central section conceals a secret compartment.
My great-grandfather, an avid collector of fine antiques, purchased this desk from New Jersey antiques dealer Wilford Lawshe in 1931.
