Both pieces of wood are very old … Read more This is an excellent pair of smaller wood sculptures, excellent for accent decor. Both pieces of wood are very old and have been hand-carved out of architectural fragments of wood and recently mounted on wrought iron stems and bases. The centuries in nature are evident in the wood - the deep grain erosion, the oxidized patina and the reduced weight of the pieces. One piece has an architectural strap around the base, originally used to keep the wood from splitting. The strap is held in by hand-hammered rivets and has an amazing, rusty patina.
The other has a square hole and a couple of round holes, where a pin of some sort would have sat.
The brown piece is 13", the gray is slightly smaller at 12.5". The iron bases are 6" square, the wood pieces are roughly 3" wide, and the pieces are secure to the stems. There are no marks.
These would be excellent as decor, either mixed in with other things, or on their own. They come from a non-smoking home. See less
