Inspired by the open landscapes and shifting atmospheres of Normandy, the composition transforms the countryside into a succession of layered planes, fragmented horizons and intersecting fields of color. Soft mineral blues, muted greens, warm ochres, terracotta and earthy reds move across a luminous neutral ground, creating a landscape that feels both expansive and intimate.

Rather than describing a specific place, Dumont reduces the landscape to its essential rhythms. Fields, distant horizons and traces of land remain perceptible, while the expressive handling of oil paint gradually dissolves them into abstraction.

Built through successive layers of oil paint, palette-knife work, scraping and partially revealed underlayers, the surface has a rich tactile quality. Irregular edges and subtle passages of exposed color give the painting depth and movement while preserving an overall sense of calm.

Presented in a natural wood floater frame, the painting is ready to hang. Its restrained yet warm palette makes it particularly suited to contemporary, modernist and collected interiors.
