We are delighted to offer for auction this exceptionally rare original 1930s Whisky brown leather Chesterfield club sofa in newly … Read more We are delighted to offer for auction this exceptionally rare original 1930s Whisky brown leather Chesterfield club sofa in newly restored condition with feather filled cushions I have another of these exactly the same which will be finished in around one month along with the matching two seat version and the fully buttoned base three seater This is a really very rare find, you almost never come across early 20th century Chesterfield club sofas and never with the period correct leather unless it’s in pieces. This sofa is just about as timeless as you could ever hope to find in terms of the lines look, feel and model, it’s the fully buttoned tradition tufted model so the highest in the range, the sofa has a wonderful distressed patina and has been stripped back and then hand dyed this wonderful cigar brown color In terms of the model this sofa is the highest in the range, it has the solid beech and oak frame, a coil sprung base which is has each spring hand tied eight ways, hessian padded and supported, the cushions are goose feather filled and very comfortable The arms and back are both tapered and sloped, a brake from the norm and only found on once again the best models. The leather hide as mentioned is totally original, it has all original patina marks as you would expect based on the age and fair use Dimensions Height:- 77.5 cm Width:- 200 cm Depth:- 84 cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point. CONDITION Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
