Antique pair of handcarved and painted wooden heads. Indian folk art- possibly dirtied or mythological characters in Indian lore. May have been used as door guards- protecting the home from unwanted spirits/energies as well as balancing the feminine and masculine energies in the home (Harmony.) Incredible details and colors!
Each head appears to be carved from one block of wood. Male measures 13.5” tall, female 12.5” tall. Both are approximately 7” & 8” wide, respectively.
