c. early 1900s; Wooden Thermometer in Tobacco Leaf Form
Antique wall thermometer mounted on a hand carved and stained wooden backboard in the shape of an elongated leaf. The face is decorated with painted branch-like veining, giving the impression of natural growth across the surface. Black stenciled numerals measure temperature from -40° to 120°, flanking the central mercury glass tube. The base features an ornate tin housing, securing the thermometer in place.
