While the Optima pendant by Hans Due for Fog & Mørup was originally released in 1972 in 20, 50, and 60 cm diameters, the 35.5 cm version was introduced later in the decade under Lyfa's production of the series — making it a less common and more collectible variation than the standard sizes.

The red interior ring is what gives the Optima its character when illuminated — a subtle warmth that radiates outward from the reflector, tinting the light just enough to transform the atmosphere of a room.
